Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth

 
 

A six week course, each class consisting of a mix of yoga breathing, exercises, nutritional advice, relaxation and mental focus techniques to help with pain control during labour.

Pregnancy can be a wonderful time for celebration and anticipation of a new life (or lives!), but it is also, especially for the first time mother, a journey into the unknown that often takes many unexpected twists and bends.

The nine months can also be an especially busy time, with most women working through it, with many “home” projects to complete before baby arrives, and hospital appointments to be slotted in.

The yoga class can be a calm oasis in the middle of a hectic week, and the relaxation in particular is a very good time for bonding with your baby. And of course, as you relax, baby gets the benefit of all those “feel-good” chemicals that are released.


Classes are small and held in a private venue, and this helps a feeling of camaraderie, the exchange of helpful hints, and group support to develop.  Indeed, many of the girls who meet in the classes stay in touch when their babies are born as they find the mutual support of other new mothers to be helpful.
